The lab integrates Wuhan University's strengths in remote sensing (LIESMARS) and management science to develop AI-powered disaster monitoring systems and risk assessment frameworks. It will focus on satellite-based early warning networks and cross-disciplinary solutions combining engineering, data science, and policy research.

During the event, researchers demonstrated an "Integrated Sky-Ground-Space Monitoring Network" using AI to create real-time disaster maps. The university pledged to support this national platform in training emergency management specialists and developing smart mitigation technologies.

The lab's establishment enhances China's capacity to predict and respond to disaster chains, aligning with national safety priorities. Site visits showcased existing innovations in emergency decision-support systems.
